Starting in Nashville, then onto Atlanta, North Carolina, Richmond, VA and Baltimore, MD, Hammond is touching and changing lives.
While in Richmond, Hammond talked about his life, his ministry and played songs from his upcoming CD, God, Love & Romance. “I’m a real brother. I don’t have a lot of titles in front of my name. I’m just real. I’ve never been the guy that sits on stage and look down on others”, said Hammond.
“I’m not arrogant enough to say I came here to change the game. If you do what you’re suppose to do the game will change.” His comments were met with applause with the just over twelve hundred who had turned out to here and see Hammond at St. Paul’s Baptist Church in Richmond, VA on Friday night.
Most of the songs, Hammond showcased had a laid back vibe that the crowd was able to sit back and chill to OR praise God in their own way. Songs like “Jacobs Love”, “I’m in Love with You”, “You are My Love True,” were all songs Hammond said, “I’m singing about Love from a man’s perspective, by a man who loves God.” With applause once again erupting throughout the church sanctuary, Hammond said, “There’s some pain and joy on this record” and as he referenced love songs he said, “We don’t have nothing out to listen to and Luther is gone!” Applause!
However once Hammond’s two disc CD project finally hits, Gospel Lovers will be happy to know that there is an alternative to R & B love songs and will be able to find Worship Love Songs for anyone in the mood for love. Hammond’s new release is delightfully set up like an audio book that sort of tells a story of love, but through songs.
Near the end of the evening, Hammond gradually transitioned into singing a few of his hits, while also setting the atmosphere for a Praise party.
Within minutes, the saints had come out of their sits, cameras started flashing from all directions and Hammond, along with his hype man Minister Johnathan Miller aka Y.P.J. had the church rocking. It was a blessed evening.
Verity Records Jeffrey B. Grant, Bonnerfide Radio, VA Gospel Announcers Guild were among those in attendance.
