GospelCity.com, uGospel.com, and GospelEngine.com have announced a partnership to launch the first ever GospelCity.com Music Awards (GCMA). The GospelCity.com Music Awards is a virtual award program that will annually honor the contributions of Inspirational Urban Gospel Musicians. A select panel of Gospel Music Industry Veterans and Professionals will decide the winner for each category along with one randomly selected GospelCity.com subscriber, per category, that is entered into our database during the nomination period.
Nominee submissions for the GMCA will begin on April 2, 2013. During the nomination period April 8, 2013 at 8:00 AM through April 20, 2013 at 11:59 PM, an artist can be nominated via GospelCity.com, uGospel.com, and GospelEngine.com by clicking “Nominate an Artist for the 2013 GCMA.” The top five artists with the most votes will be announced as the Category Finalists for each ballot on April 29, 2013 at 12 Noon.
“Inspirational urban gospel artists along with their super, loyal fans that generate and provide invaluable support and encouragement can always call GospelCity.com, uGospel.com, and GospelEngine.com home (24/7),” says Ursula D., General Manager, Light Media Network (GospelCity.com) and CEO/President, “The Alliance.”
In light of the Recording Academy’s recent decision to reduce its categories, the Urban Gospel genre of music was specifically and adversely impacted thus leaving a huge void in music representation at the Grammy Awards. Nevertheless, problems and setbacks are often inspiration for innovation, which is why the GospelCity.com Music Awards are being launched to recognize the achievements of so many artists that give their best year-after-year in a genre that influences all styles of music worldwide.
Categories for the GCMA include Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Artist of the Year, across three classifications (traditional, contemporary, rap/hip-hop) and both physical and digital albums are accepted for nomination. Other categories featured in the award ceremony are Best Video, Best Internet Radio Show, Best DJ, Best Producer, Best Duo/Group, Best Choir and Best Female & Best Male Vocalist.
The Final Virtual Awards Ceremony will be hosted online by Livestream via all three participating Internet properties and featured on corresponding social media pages on May 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM.
