Before Jekalyn Carr was an internationally renowned Gospel recording artist and evangelist, she was a little girl with a gift, and her father, Allen Carr, was a praying man with a dream. Early on, it was very clear that his daughter was anointed by God to reach the masses, and it was his sincere desire that he learn to be a good steward over everything that God had entrusted his daughter and himself with, to impact the world.
Allen and Jekalyn yielded themselves to the will of God, and together, began learning how to cultivate her gifts and how to expedite his professional acumen, in order to protect and present her ministry to the world. Father and daughter quickly evolved into Manager and Artist. Jekalyn began preaching at the age of 13. Soon thereafter, God began to allow Allen to hear Jekalyn’s voice in the Spirit and he found himself able to write songs for her, based on what he heard. Those songs would quickly become the foundation for her ministry and career and would go on to impact the world. At the tender age of 15, Jekalyn scored her first major hit, “Greater Is Coming,” and at 16, she received her first Stellar Award for that song.
After the acclaim of “Greater Is Coming,” and as their collective calling continued to expand, Jekalyn’s and Allen’s professional relationships continued to also grow as they learned to work together in various new capacities to accommodate the ministerial mantle they’d been handed. Keeping God at the forefront, the two became production partners and created some of the biggest Gospel songs of recent years. At age 19, Jekalyn released The Life Project, led by “You’re Bigger,” which would become her first number one album and single, respectively. She would also receive her first Grammy® nomination, as well as Billboard Music Award and GMA Dove Award nominations for the ground-breaking project.
Now, an adult at twenty-years-old, with countless accolades behind her, Jekalyn still recognizes the importance of honoring God’s call upon her life. She remains mindful that with her gifts, talents, and her father by her side, she has everything she needs to fulfill the great commission; to reach the lost, encourage the downtrodden, and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Carr and Carr are looking forward to all that 2018 has in store. Jekalyn will release her highly-anticipated new album, One Nation Under God, which will feature her latest dynamic single, “You Will Win,” which is already blessing millions and in the Top 5 on the BDS radio chart. Jekalyn will also release her first book, similarly titled, You Will Win: Inspirational Strategies to Help You Overcome, early next year.
