Gospel Music’s Leading Man – Earnest Pugh – whose biggest #1 hits “Rain On us” and “I Need Your Glory” – were recorded when he lived in the DMV, is coming back to town for a CD concert listening party for his new album “The W.I.N. (Worship in Nassau) Experience” that was produced by the Grammy® Award winner Cedric Thompson before a lively crowd of fans in The Bahamas this past spring. The new radio single “More of You” is #15 on this week’s Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart.
The concert – sponsored in conjunction with Radio One’s Praise 104.1 FM radio station, The Howard Theatre and the EPM Music Group, takes place Saturday, September 7, 2013 @ 7:00 p.m. at The Howard Theatre, 620 T Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20001. All tickets are general admission and available for $10.41 at Ticketmaster locations and The Howard Theatre Box Office. Praise 104.1 FM midday announcer Cheryl Jackson and singer Lil’Mo of TV One’s “R&B Divas” reality show will host the event.
The event isn’t just a celebration of Pugh’s new project but also a showcase for his record label, EPM Music Group. The company was co-founded with Washington native and singer Keith Williams who has worked with artists such as Tony winner Jennifer Holliday. Williams is also signed to the label and will perform songs from his new CD “Tone For Worship” during the concert. Another popular local act, Charles Butler & Trinity, which performed at last week’s March on Washington ceremony before Oprah Winfrey spoke, will perform songs from its new EPM Music Group “Better” CD as well.
Another rising local gospel star Brittany Wright will open the concert with praise and worship music.
“I have a great feeling about the W.I.N. CD,” Pugh says. “It’s the biggest release of my 15-year career as an artist. The production and songs are amazing. Central South has done an amazing job setting up the record, and the people are loving the material as I minister it each weekend around the country so there is no place to go but up from here.” Fans can get news updates on the artists at their online hubs of earnestpugh.com or http://epmmusicgroup.com.
