New Destiny Christian Center, the congregation founded and led by the late Zachery Tims for 15 years, is supposed to have a successor selected by New Years Eve. The church announced a new senior pastor will be revealed and take on his or her new leadership duties beginning Jan. 1, 2012.
However, there seems to be a problem among the selection process. According to Jessica Brooks, a BREATHEcast reporter, Mega-church Pastor Bishop I.V. Hilliard of New Light Church in Houston recently resigned from being part of that selection process.
The Bishop’s Committee Council was constructed to aid in the process of helping the church to install a new pastor in wake of the late Dr. Zachery Tims’ untimely passing. Bishop I.V. Hilliard left the council as an initiative to maintain his integrity, choosing to part ways with the group that he feels has veered from its initial commitment.
“I was asked to be apart of a four bishop council, a committee of four bishops that would give wisdom and council and guidance to the board during their selection process,” Hilliard said. “Now after being involved for sometime in the process, I have decided to resign my position in this bishop’s council. Now my commitment to integrity will not allow me to support something that I believe is deceptive and that compromises previously agreed upon procedures and protocol.”
Hilliard also took to Twitter to express his disapproval, tweeting , “Who stands by and watches a theft take place and does not sound the alarm? Only the irresponsible and the uncaring..NDCC members we care…”
