G.I. has proven to be one of Gospel music’s most exciting rising stars. The Stellar and Dove Award nominees have been thrilling audiences with their rich amalgam of Gospel that infuses elements of Urban, Pop, Soul, Rock and Hip Hop. Heralded by Essence.com as among the Top 15 Gospel Artists To Watch, G.I. has recently been enjoying the success of their Top 10 Billboard Gospel hit “Pray and Don’t Worry,” which just hit #9. “To God be the glory!,” share the members of G.I. “To see a song that we birthed during worship service rise to the Top of the Billboard charts is amazing! We are honored that God chose us to remind the world to always Pray and never Worry.” G.I.’s single has also garnered the group a 2017 Stellar Award nomination for “Contemporary Group/Duo of the Year.”
G.I. consists of group members Branden Anderson, Lamonte Harris, and Rufus Johnson. Exemplifying brotherhood, the three have been together for close to two decades. In 2009, G.I. catapulted onto the music scene with their debut CD “God’s Image”. The album made it to #18 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums Chart and the radio single “Get Up” remained in the Top 30 of Billboard’s Gospel Airplay Chart for most of the year. The Next Dimension arrived in 2011 and peaked at #15 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums Chart. Their single, “Forever We Will Worship,” made its way to #24 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay Chart, and their uptempo groove “Lead Us to Truth” experienced international crossover success and landed them a Stellar and Dove Award nomination. While G.I. is thankful for all of the recognition the music industry has shown them for their musical contributions, their testimony remains the same: they do it all for the Glory of God and the building of His Kingdom. G.I. concludes, “Our mission has always been to reach as many souls, and especially unsaved souls, as God allows through our music.”
