Donnie McClurkin - 2The 28th Annual Midwest Black Family Reunion will be held August 19 – 21, 2016 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The celebration honors historic strengths and values of the Black Family and is the only Black Family Reunion remaining—drawing up to 20,000 visitors each year from across the country. Admission is free.

National headliners include a rhythm and blues concert featuring Cameo, whose hit song “Word Up!” was released thirty years ago, and a finale gospel concert led by Grammy-award winner Donnie McClurkin.

The weekend kicks off with breakfast featuring keynote speaker Rev. Dr. Otis Moss, Jr. Other activities include a community parade, an outdoor church service led by Pastor Donnie McClurkin, a seniors’ pavilion, job fair, kids’ fun zone, local performers (dancers, singers, rappers, R&B and jazz bands, spoken word artists and poets), African American heritage vendors, food booths and non-profit organizations.

“The Midwest Black Family Reunion provides a positive environment, emotionally and physically,” explains Tracey Artis, event producer. “Besides the entertainment draw and interactive activities, many people don’t realize we host spirituality and health pavilions. We even offer free mammograms.”
