Steve Dalton & The Leviticus Singers of Charlotte, Break Billboard-charting Record

One of the first things children learn in Sunday School is about the love of God. It’s that same simple, yet life-altering premise that is still resonating in the hearts and minds of believers today. Steve Dalton & The Leviticus Singers of Charlotte have seen how the message of divine love has captured the Gospel community with their latest single, “God Is Love”. Now the up-tempo jam has caught the attention of the Gospel music industry. The ensemble is celebrating the single’s reign at the top spot on the Nielsen BDS Billboard Gospel Airplay Internet Radio Chart. “God Is Love” sat comfortably at #1 for 20 weeks breaking the previous 17-week record set by Gospel Artist Micah Lee for his record, “Don’t Break”, in October 2019. “God Is Love” entered the #1 spot on Monday, February 10, 2020, and remained there through the week ending Sunday, June 21, 2020. The ensemble is grateful for reaching such a milestone, especially as independent artists.

Dalton is thrilled about the success of the single. Asked if he thought the song would do as well as it has, he said he was surprised at its success. “In my spirit I knew the message of the song was good, but I had no idea how much it would resonate with believers and non-believers alike, no matter where they’re from or where they are in their walk in life. Not in a million years did I think it would have the success it did,” he said.

Steven believes the song is moving hearts because of its simplicity. He continues, “In addition to people grabbing hold to a simple yet life-changing message, ‘God Is Love’ is universal. It’s something we’ve heard our whole lives, but with everything happening in today’s world, it has found an even deeper meaning”. He also thinks God breathed on the song and allowed people to be touched by it.

The concept video for “God Is Love” certainly contributed to the popularity of the track. Highlighting a variety of real-life issues, the video brings to life the lyrics of the song. The music video recounts stories that have touched members of The Leviticus Singers of Charlotte personally. The chart-topping single is the first song out of the gate from an upcoming EP, The Introduction. The fourth-quarter 2020 release will include songs that the group has been ministering on the road such as “All The Glory”, “Our God”, “So Free”, “I Win” and “How Great Is Our God”.

Steve Dalton & The Leviticus Singers of Charlotte, which have been together for 16 years, have ministered in their area and beyond and have shared the stage with greats such as Dr. Juanita Bynum, Fred Hammond, Kurt Carr, Maurette Brown Clark, Byron Cage and Israel Houghton. Known for powerful vocal performances and soul-touching songs, the ensemble are two-time Gospel Image Award Winners and Nominees for Rhythm of Gospel, Prayze Factor People’s Choice and Queen City Music Awards.
