Gospel’s First Lady Announces Continued Relationship with Light Records

Pastor Shirley Caesar announced today that she has re-signed with her long time label home, LIGHT RECORDS.  Her announcement comes hot off the heels of her earning two Dove Award nominations this year for her 2010 hit CD A CITY CALLED HEAVEN.

A CITY CALLED HEAVEN was nominated for Traditional Gospel Album of the Year and the single “Favor” was nominated for Traditional Gospel Recorded Song of the Year.

After over 40 years, countless awards and nominations, Caesar continues to be the benchmark for Gospel music.  Recognizing her contributions to Gospel music, Caesar was recently honored by BMI receiving the 2011 BMI Trailblazers Award.  The tribute included soul-stirring and rousing performances by Arnetta Murrills-Croom, Beverly Crawford, Lucinda Moore, Ledisi and an unforgettable song  by Kim Burrell.

Caesar has plans to record a new album in late 2011 with popular producer Kurt Carr on board to produce.
