Lindenwold, NJ: Bishop David G. Evans’ Abundant Harvest Entertainment firm is enjoying a rich harvest of hits this fall. The independent recording label has three music projects on the market that have not only lived through a change in climatic seasons but also speak to listeners at various seasons of life.
The CD, Automatic Praise, was released in the fall of 2008 and tailor-made for those who like their praise and worship music with a spirited, old school Pentecostal fervor. The rousing foot stomper, “This Joy,” was written and led by Tracy Shy with the Abundant Harvest Choir. The song spent twenty weeks on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart and peaked at #20 before moving to the Top 10 on the Radio & Records Recurrent chart
Bishop Evans even has ear candy for romantics to chew on. His fifteen song album, Pure Love, is guaranteed to light sparks in the dullest of relationships. The current single “Change Me” (sung by Johnnie Vaughan) is a retro R&B slow drag that has spent six months on the charts. “Love is not just physical and emotional,” Evans cautions. “It is certainly a spiritual quality when it is right between two people. Much of what we hear on the radio today is not that kind of spiritual love. Real love, pure love, looks for the best and wants the best for those we love. It is time for music that speaks to our romantic interests without distorting the true meaning of love. That’s what Pure Love is all about.”
Finally, Abundant Harvest has something for youth and the young at heart with Christawn’s inspirational Hip Hop CD, Life Story. His rock-edged radio single, “Save Me (featuring fiery tenor Micah Stampley on the hook),” is an autobiographical tale of God saving him from a potential prison sentence and his former life as a drug dealer. “Everyone I used to hang with is either dead or in prison, so I know God saved me for a reason,” Christawn says.
