Almost two years ago, news broke that Michael Winans, Jr. could possibly face up to 20 years in prison for wire fraud after being accused of running a ponzi scheme.  Winans, a member of the famous gospel family, plead guilty to the charge in February of 2013 and was sentenced to nearly 14 years in prison.

According to reports, Winans cheated people out of more than $8 million dollars by using a ponzi scheme. He allegedly got the victims, which is said to be over 1,000 people, to invest in Saudi Arabian oil bonds. However, feds say that his oil bonds and investments were all fake, therefore allowing Winans to pocket the money. Winans’ attorney claims that his client intends to pay the victims back all of their money.

Before he began to serve the 13.9 court mandated years in prison, Winans had an in-depth interview with Lexi Allen. In the hour-long interview, Winans discusses the false claims made against him, serving time, family and what he learned from this whole ordeal.

Check out the interview below for answers to many of the questions you have and let us know what you think.
