Rev. Creflo Dollar Asks Congregation to Donate $234k to Family of Slain Church Member
This past Sunday Rev. Creflo Dollar of World Changers International Church in College Park asked his congregation to donate money to the family of Gregory McDowell, a member of that church that was slain last week. McDowell was shot and killed on Wednesday morning inside the church.
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Rev. Dollar said, “The goal is $234,000. We want to completely eradicate all debts in their lives; house, cars, everything. Let’s now show the world the power of a megachurch. It’s enough to have somebody torn away from you,” he said. “And at the same time have to be worried about all of the debts.”
The suspect, Floyd Palmer, was arrested the day of the shooting at Lenox Square. The tragedy occurred just minutes before their weekly Wednesday morning worship service in the chapel.
McDowell was a 48-year-old church staff member, possibly a member of the production crew. He was on stage and leading a prayer when he was shot at point-blank range. Palmer was a maintenance man at the church but resigned earlier this year. The cause of the shooting is still unknown. Rev. Creflo Dollar was not at the church at the time of the shooting.
