Lisa Page Brooks Takes Heart Campaign to Maryland

National Gospel Singer and spokesperson, Lisa Page Brooks joins the Go Red For Women’s  6^th Annual Health & Fashion show. The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement in Maryland is asking all women to help America Go Red this year! Today, the 10th Annual National Wear Red Day, is more important than ever for women to stand side-by-side to end heart disease. The movement begins with a weekend celebration to raise awareness of the No. 1 killer of women and save women’s lives.

Today, National Wear Red Day, join The American Heart Association for a cooking demo at 5 pm and Zumbathon from 6-8 pm in the Center Court. On Saturday, Feb 2, in front of Macy’s, activities will include: Free blood pressure screenings by St. Joseph Medical Center, nutrition counseling, fitness and cooking demos, kids art for the heart sponsored by the Deltas, casting call, learn Hands Only CPR by Chesapeake AED Services, heart health info and free giveaways. Go Red Fashion show featuring women survivors and local celebrities produced by Lane Rae’s KIS agency. ABC NEWS news anchor, Kelly Swoop will emcee.

For 10 years, women have been fighting heart disease individually and together as part of the Go Red For Women movement. More than 627,000 women’s lives have been saved, but the fight is far from over. Heart disease is still women’s No. 1 killer – it affects more women than men and is more deadly than all forms of cancer combined. But the strength of mothers, sisters, daughters and friends fighting side by side is more powerful than any killer. It’s time to shout louder, stand stronger and demand change.
