The Stellar Awards Implement New Changes to Eligibility and Voting Process

Don Jackson, Stellar Award President and CEO, recently released the new requirements for an artist to be eligible for a Stellar Award. Below you can see what the new eligibility and voting process. Jackson and his team decided to implement the following changes: Eligibility Period: The 28th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards, hosted by Mary Mary and Kirk Franklin, was the last year in which the eligibility period from July 1st to June 30th was utilized. The 2014 Eligibility Period will be from July 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013, to ensure that we are fair during the transition period. Subsequently, in 2015, the eligibility period will be from October 1, 2013 to September 30, 2014. Nominations will be announced thereafter. Project Eligibility Criteria: The Stellar Awards Executive Committee has decided on the following criteria for project eligibility: • The project must have been released during the eligibility period (July 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013) • The project must be sold and played nationally • The project must chart in the TOP 25 for AT LEAST FOUR WEEKS on AT LEAST TWO of the Nielsen Charts (Billboard, SoundScan, or BDS) • The person submitting the project must be a member of the Stellar Awards Gospel Music Academy (SAGMA) Online Submission Process Begins: August 1, 2013 at www.thestellarawards.com We hope that you understand the changes. Congratulations to Sunday Best Winner Le’Andria Johnson who recently announced she was installed as a pastor. The Grammy Award-winning singer’s church, IPC Ministries, will be located at 631 N Central Ave., Hapeville, Georgia. IPC Ministries’ first service is scheduled for June 16, 2013. In other news, Johnson is scheduled to perform at the 2013 BET Awards on June 30, 2013, live in Los Angeles.

New Video: “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” by Robert E. Person

Robert E. Person’s award winning project SOUL SANCTUARY is a jazz infused, contemporary gospel musical master piece. Person is premiering the official video for his current radio single from the project, "Great Is Thy Faithfulness". Even with the innovative jazz arrangements and stylishly savvy vocal performances on the CD, it is Person’s desire is to keep classic hymns thriving in gospel music. “I believe it’s my responsibility as a psalmist to keep the great hymns of the church alive,” he shares. “There’s nothing like a good ole hymn to get you thru the rough times. Sometimes when you don’t know what to say, a hymn comes to mind. And when you don’t know what to pray, a hymn comes to mind.” With the help of noted jazz pianist Allyn Johnson, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” embodies the essence of a classic hymn with a contemporary twist of jazz flare. “I am grateful for God’s tremendous gift of new mercies every day. I’ve sung this hymn all of my life,” Person explains. “What amazes me (as I get older) is the fact that it’s becomes new every time I’m blessed to sing it. Not to mention, it’s an incredible arrangement.” The visually stunning video was filmed in Washington DC at the beautiful Holy Comforter – Saint Cyprian Catholic Church and the breathtaking West Potomac Park.
