National Gospel Dance Showcase, “Dance Saints, Dance!” 2012 in Atlanta
Urban Roundup Group, LLC is proud to announce its partnership with Dancing Preachers International (DPI) to present the 10th Annual National Gospel Dance Showcase, Dance Saints, Dance! 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia. After a decade of producing the show, Khalif M. Townes, President/CEO of Urban Roundup Group, LLC and uGospel.com, decided to take it on the road to another major market. Originally, Dance Saints, Dance! was held in Philadelphia, however, by doing the show in Atlanta this year Townes will provide more performers with an opportunity to showcase their unique dancing talents.
Dancing Preachers International is a worldwide liturgical dance ministry that encourages and teaches the spiritual and healing power of liturgical dance in over 30 countries around the world. The company will hold its 6th Annual Dancing Preachers International Conference in Atlanta, July 31-August 5, 2012, and Dance Saints, Dance! will be a premiere event during the conference.
“I’m more than excited to be able to produce Dance Saints, Dance! in such a major city like Atlanta. This is our 10th anniversary and I know the show will be the best one thus far. Atlanta is the home of some amazing talent and I can’t wait to let them showcase their unique forms of dance and praise on our stage,” says Townes.
By working in conjunction with DPI to bring Dance Saints, Dance to Atlanta, Townes has opened the door to begin regional productions of the show. The 10th anniversary of Dance Saints, Dance will be celebrated throughout the remainder of 2012, including a performance in its hometown of Philadelphia. Other cities included in the regional productions of Dance Saints, Dance! will be announced in the future.
Hosted by Sabrina McKenzie, founder of DPI and EPIC World Church, where she serves as pastor, the Conference’s 2012 theme is “Changing of the Guard,” which according to McKenzie, signifies the growing phenomenon of liturgical dance as a powerful ministry worldwide.
“Our theme this year is “Changing of the Guard,” and represents a season where dance ministers around the world are moving from obscurity to notoriety in ways and in places many would not have thought they would in the past,” says McKenzie. “Dance ministers are not just dancing on a platform, but God is transitioning us inside areas of government and having us preach to nations through our ministry,” she said.
In the last six years, the DPI Conference has attracted hundreds of delegates and people from over thirty nations and McKenzie expects that number to significantly increase this year, as a result of the impact the Conference and liturgical dance ministry has had in sharing the gospel around the U.S and abroad. This is one of the things of which says she is most proud.
Dance Saints, Dance! is a talent showcase within the gospel industry that combines gospel music with dance artistry. The show has always been and will be an evening of high-spirited, foot-stomping, and inspirational praise. Dance Saints, Dance! showcases the talents of dance ministries throughout the country. As a trained dance performer and enthusiast for gospel music, Mr. Townes envisioned a platform to fuse both gospel music and liturgical dance by showcasing the talents and creativity of individuals and group performers under one roof.
The 6th Annual Dance Preachers International Conference and Dance Saints, Dance! 2012 will be held at the Hilton Atlanta Airport Hotel, located at 1031 Virginia Ave., Atlanta, GA., 30354. For more information or to register, go to www.dancingpreachers.com., or call Lakisha Gary at 770/369-7108.
