The Washington, D.C.  community has grown up with Tracy Morgan and now she’s inviting the DMV to come and celebrate her thirty years in gospel radio with a free admission Celebration Concert taking place Saturday, March 22, 2014 @3:00 PM at the Philadelphia Open Door Way of the Cross Church, 3900 James Street, Suitland, MD.

A who’s who of the local gospel music community is coming out to celebrate with Morgan. There will be performances from Jimmy Russell & B.O.C., Chris Holmes, Ronnette Harrison, Livre, Mike Smith & N.R.O.G., Pastor William Becton, Phillip Carter & S.O.V., Brandon Camphor & One Way and Rev. Dr. Emory Andrews & The Oxon Hill High School Choir. Fellow radio announcers Pastor Jerome Bell and Winston Chaney of WYCB 1340 AM will also be on hand for the festivities.

Morgan is currently the Program Director and host of “The Tracy Morgan Radio Show” morning drive program on WBBP 1480 AM in Memphis, TN.  However, her roots are here in the DMV. Over the years, she’s been an on-air personality as well as program director, music director and producer. She’s worked for CBS Radio, Salem Communications and Radio One. For nearly a decade she was a popular host on WPGC’s Heaven 1580 where she worked when she won a Stellar Award as Announcer of the Year. In 2005, she was inducted into the Broadcasters Hall of Fame in Akron, Ohio.  She has also inducted into the Columbia School of Broadcasting Hall of Fame and in 2014, she was honored with the Reach Award for Outstanding Achievement by an Announcer during Stellar Awards weekend in Nashville.

When she’s not on air, Morgan is in the community helping others. She gives back to the community with her annual “Back to School with New Shoes” campaign that provides new shoes for needy school-age children. She and her husband Keith Morgan have one child, a daughter named Katrina.
