Hammond USA Enlists Celebrated Gospel Organist P.J. Morgan to Represent Line of Musical Instruments

PJMorganHammond USA has gifted noted producer and musician P.J. Morgan – born March 31st – with one of the best birthday presents an organist could ask for – a Hammond endorsement.  The legendary company has tapped the celebrated gospel aficionado to aid the iconic brand in representing its line of musical instruments to a new generation of keyboard players and church music department managers.  “This is an honor for me,” says Morgan who has been tickling the ivories since his junior high school days. “I just love making music and to now be affiliated with Hammond USA is beyond my wildest dreams.”

Over the last two decades, P.J. Morgan has emerged as one of the most respected and in-demand Hammond B3 superstars in the gospel music idiom. He’s produced artists such as Maurette Brown Clark and played on recording sessions ranging from Tramaine Hawkins’ “I Never Lost My Praise” to Shirley Caesar’s “I Know the Truth.”  He’s also well known for his twenty year stint as a musician with Black Entertainment Television (BET) where he’s also played in The Ray Chew Orchestra during the cable network’s annual “BET Honors” broadcast since its inception in 2008.

Morgan, who is also director of music at the 20,000 strong Reid Temple A.M.E. church in Glenn Dale, MD, is currently working on a gospel Jazz CD project that he’s hoping to release before 2014 is over.  “I’m going to do 6-7 hymns and then do jazz renditions the way I hear them in my head,” he says. “I’ve been holding on to a lot of music for a long time and it’s time to release it.”
