GMC TV to Change Name to UP Beginning September 1st, Plus New Logo

up_blue_hero_cropCharley Humbard, President/CEO of GMC TV, released a statement revealing the network will be revamped with a new name, logo and appearance. The transformation has already begun, as the new logo is available and beginning September 1, 2013 the eight-year-old network will officially be known as UP.  Also, GMC TV’s parent company Gospel Music Channel LLC will change its name to Up Entertainment LLC.

“We like to say we have been a brand that has offered uplifting entertainment, as well as uplifting entertainment overall,” says Humbard. “Nothing’s changing on the channel programmatically, but it’s a way for us to bring clarity to the brand, and it gives punch to the network’s message of a place where viewers can turn to be uplifted, entertained and inspired.”

The “new” network will be introduced this summer though on-air promos and social media, according to Humbard. UP will easily define the network to viewers, rather than GMC TV, which he said often confuses viewers. “When you want uplifting entertainment, you know that our brand is dependable, but the GMC name didn’t convey the brand to viewers unfamiliar with the channel,” explains Humbard.

Question? Why isn’t GMC\UP offered on AT&T U-Verse cable???? When I had Direct TV; GMC was one of my favorite channels and I truly miss watching all the uplifting programs on GMC.

I just changed services from TWC to AT&T and UP is not available. I am highly disappointed about this. Is there a way to solve this problem? I love UP, ITS A WONDERFUL FAMILY CHANNEL.
